Our second podcast is now up!
This week we took a less academic tone, and discussed one of my favorite topics, the media, particularly the three main 24 hour news networks (Fox, CNN, MSNBC).
We also discussed President Obama’s decision to keep 35,000 to 50,000 troops in Iraq, and what this bodes for the future
Finally, we delved into the senate investigation of the CIA's interrogation techniques under the Bush administration
We hope you enjoy it, because it was fun for us. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment or sending us an email.
Thanks
-Hady

Totally agree, news channel doesn't really cover any news, only gossip and entertainment.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing I would like to comment on is the issues of troops in Iraq. One of the things you should understand is that due to the issues with Iran (yes I know, divisive issue), but it's what they call a tripwire deterrent. They have done the same thing in Korea. Hady is right to a point, we are there to represent our interests in the area, but we also must keep in mind that if Israel does ANYTHING provocative in the region, we can at least do something to act in the most expedient of manners because they are already deployed. 30,000 is a typical deployment amount for regional security that dates back to the cold war and earlier. You have around the same amount of Marines in Okinawa, 30,000 US Army Soldiers at the DMZ in Korea, and of course the remnants of anti-soviet forces remaining in Germany. These are easy examples which Obama can go to an there really isn't much more to it. ARSCOM has true authority and the Joint Chief's obviously have the President's ear. Anyway, on a side note, props to you guys for doing podcasts with political discourse. It's about time we younguns started doing this on a regular basis.
